Recent research by Salesforce indicates a significant shift in the way businesses will operate, with agentic AI adoption expected to rise by 327% by 2027. This suggests that while jobs may evolve, they are not necessarily at risk, as the need for human input remains critical.

The integration of AI is expected to result in a 19% reduction in labor costs. As businesses aim to harness these efficiencies, AI literacy has emerged as the top skill required in the modern workplace. Consequently, 81% of CHROs are focused on reskilling or planning to reskill employees for future roles. This includes transitioning many into technical positions such as data scientists and technical architects.

IT, research & development, and sales departments are anticipated to experience the most growth as a result of AI integration. Conversely, areas such as customer service, operations, and finance may see a contraction. This shift requires employees to adapt quickly, as 86% of CHROs believe that AI will play a critical role in their operations within the next five years.

Despite these changes, the adoption of agentic AI is still in its early stages, with 85% of organizations yet to implement it. This gives workers time to adjust and pursue necessary training. However, the window of opportunity is not indefinite, as the coexistence of AI agents and humans in the workplace is expected to become the norm.
