UK Launches ‘Well at UK’ Portal for Employee Wellness

University of Kentucky Debuts New Well-being Portal

The University of Kentucky (UK) Human Resources Health and Wellness has introduced a new digital platform aimed at improving the overall well-being of its community. The Well at UK portal, developed in partnership with Asset Health, is now live and open for registration. This innovative initiative provides employees with a variety of wellness tools and resources designed to support physical, mental, emotional, and financial health.

Comprehensive Support for Whole-Person Health

Designed as a flexible and accessible tool, Well at UK is available to faculty, staff, retirees, and their spouses at no cost. The portal is part of UK’s broader commitment to promoting a culture of health and well-being throughout the campus community.

“I see Well at UK as an extension of UK’s commitment to individual well-being,” said Jody Ensman, HR Well-being Manager. “It builds upon our established internal well-being resources and specialists by providing employees with flexible, accessible tools while fostering a sense of community.”

Features of the Well at UK Platform

The Well at UK portal is accessible via both desktop and mobile devices, allowing users to engage with the platform from virtually anywhere—whether at home, at work, or on the go. The platform includes:

  • More than 1,000 virtual, on-demand fitness classes catering to all ability levels, including yoga, High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), strength training, running, walking, mindfulness, meditation, cycling, circuit training, kickboxing, dance, and stretching.
  • Interactive step and well-being challenges to encourage physical activity and community engagement.
  • Customizable peer-to-peer challenges, allowing users to create their own wellness competitions and invite up to 50 colleagues to participate.

“You asked and we listened. Well at UK brings you fitness anytime, anywhere,” said Carrie Davidson, MoveWell Fitness Manager. “This has been a long time coming, and we are thrilled to bring it to you now. This is just another example of how HR Health and Wellness is taking care of its people no matter where you are.”

Winter Games Step Challenge Kicks Things Off

To launch the platform, HR Health and Wellness is hosting its first major event: the Winter Games Step Challenge. Scheduled to begin on February 2, this free challenge invites participants to virtually travel to 10 iconic Winter Games locations across Italy by logging steps over a 20-day period. The goal is to accumulate 210,000 steps between February 2 and February 22.

“The step challenges always motivate me to get more steps,” said Jennifer Royalty, a registered dietitian with Clinical Nutrition Services. “I like the community of cheering each other on to increase our exercise.”

The challenge not only promotes physical activity but also fosters a sense of camaraderie and shared achievement among participants.

How to Get Started

Registration for Well at UK is now open. Interested participants can sign up by visiting hr.uky.edu/well-uk. The portal is user-friendly and designed to accommodate a wide range of well-being goals and preferences.

Whether you’re looking to build physical strength, manage stress, improve nutrition, or connect with colleagues through mutual goals, Well at UK offers something for everyone. The platform’s inclusivity and ease of use are central to its mission to support the diverse needs of the UK community.

UK’s Continued Commitment to Well-being

As Kentucky’s flagship land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky is deeply committed to the well-being of its students, staff, and faculty. This initiative is part of a broader effort to foster a supportive, health-first environment on campus.

The university emphasizes its role as a driver of innovation, research, and wellness. With over 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development operation, and a world-renowned medical center, UK continues to be a leader in education and public service.

Well at UK is a testament to the university’s dedication to holistic support and its recognition that employee wellness is central to institutional success.
