Re-Envisioning HR: The AI Revolution at SGT University’s Meet

SGT University recently hosted an exclusive HR Meet entitled ‘Re-Envisioning HR in the Era of AI’. The event brought together eminent corporate leaders to explore the transformative impact of artificial intelligence on the human resources sector. The meet was organized by the Faculty of Commerce and Management in conjunction with the Corporate Connect Centre.

The event was inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor of SGT University, Prof. (Dr.) Hemant Verma, who underscored the significance of the HR department as an organizational pillar that influences both the current and future trajectory of companies. He expressed his anticipation to absorb the insights shared by the attending experts.

Prof. (Dr.) Jawahar Mal Jangir, the Pro Vice Chancellor, highlighted the evolving role of HR into a more strategic and technology-focused domain. He advocated for enhanced collaboration between industry and academia to drive this transformation. Dr. Kirti Dutta, Dean of FCAM, emphasized the emergence of ‘Human AI Resources’ and expressed gratitude to industry partners for their role in preparing a workforce ready for the challenges of tomorrow.

The event featured two panel discussions, attracting HR leaders from across corporate India. The first panel, ‘The Changing Face of HR – AI as a Game Changer’, included notable figures such as Sonal Kapur Sinha from Esme Consumer, Col. Tarun Vohra of Lumax Industries Ltd., Pradeep Pandey from Grant Thornton, and Harsh Priya Arya of Jay Bharat Maruti Ltd., with moderation by Siddhant Chandel from ISDC. Discussions revolved around innovative AI and analytics applications currently being integrated into HR functions.

Pradeep Pandey articulated the enhanced capabilities AI offers, stating, ‘Tools and technologies, including AI, are designed to augment our capabilities. Today, organizations seek individuals who can learn, adapt, and enhance their skills to stay current with technological advancements, driving organizational growth and success.’

The second panel, ‘Ethics, Empathy, and the Human Touch – Finding Balance in an AI-Driven HR World’, included Meetu Singh from KPMG, Gaurav Mehta of CVENT, Mukul Mathur of Rays Power Infra, and Yogesh Raheja from Thinknyx Technologies, with Dr. Vineet Mangal of Beewise Consulting as moderator. This session focused on maintaining the human element within HR as AI technologies become more prevalent.

Meetu Singh from KPMG emphasized the necessity of robust governance and validation when deploying AI in HR. ‘Strong governance and proper validation are essential when implementing AI in HR or business operations. If not guided with the right prompts, AI can reinforce stereotypes and yield inaccurate or biased results—even when working with a strong database,’ she noted.

Mukul Mathur from Rays Power Infra added, ‘AI is a powerful tool for processing and analysing large volumes of data. However, the final decision-making should remain with humans, who must apply critical thinking to interpret and use the insights smartly.’

The HR Meet was bolstered by partnerships with ISDC as the Knowledge Partner, Samatrix.io as the Gold Sponsor, and Amar Ujala as the Media Partner. These collaborations contributed significantly to the event’s success.

Feedback from SGT University students and faculty was overwhelmingly positive, with attendees pledging to incorporate the insights gained into their future endeavors. The university remains committed to hosting similar events that bring cutting-edge corporate knowledge to its academic environment.
